We are a responsible actor in the energy sector, so we want to keep you safe, including when you are having work done on your land. So, as part of your preparations before work begins, please remember to send us a Declaration of Intention to Commence Work (DICT). This mandatory step enables us to provide you with technical information about our grid, particularly its precise position, to prevent any damage.
Before carrying out work in the vicinity of our pipelines, you are under an obligation to send us a declaration in advance. That Declaration of Intention to Commence Work (DICT) enables you to tell us:
the precise location of the planned work;
the nature of the upcoming work;
the work techniques which will be employed.
This process takes place beforehand, as part of the preparation for the work. You can send your DICT no later than 7 days before the work begins, showing the precise extent of the worksite. This process is an essential part of preventing any possible damage and safeguarding the service life of networks.
By sending us a DICT in advance of planning your work, you are guaranteed to receive information about the location of the gas grids. As part of that, and for your safety, we promise to:
respond to your planned work declarations and DICTs within a deadline of 9 days when sent through the post, or 7 days when sent electronically;
to inform you of the precise positions of our high pressure gas transport pipelines;
to tell you what precautions to take when working close to pipes;
to provide, free of charge, the marking or staking out of pipeline(s) in the area covered by the work.
As a responsible actor in the energy sector, we always look for ways to improve safety and prevent the risk of accidents or damage to our infrastructures. To simplify your declarations further, we have therefore teamed up with six major network operators (GRTGaz, GrDF, RTE, ERDF, France Télécom-Orange and Lyonnaise des Eaux) in a joint subsidiary: DECLARANET. The aim of that approach was to set up a website – Protys.fr – to simplify your declarations of work (DTs and DICTS) and the process of getting responses to those declarations.
Designed to help all stakeholders (prime contractors, construction companies, network operators, delegated operators, local authorities and public bodies), this website helps reduce the levels of undeclared works. Through this initiative, we aim to increase the safety of work near to our structures, and to reduce the workload associated with processing applications.
