Teréga’s local commitment alongside local authorities
As a committed actor and accelerator of energy transition in our region, we are just as involved in initiatives and new approaches to energy use in our region as we are in local and social development projects. Rooted in the far South-West of France for more than 75 years, we have over the decades established a relationship of trust with all stakeholders in the region. Throughout each of our projects we inform stakeholders (authorities, elected representatives, neighbours etc.) about the different stages of our operations and how they will be organised. Before, during and after projects, we develop an ongoing dialogue to ensure the safety of works and structures, and to care for the environment and the natural spaces we traverse. Deep and lasting relationships have been built on these solid collaborative foundations.
Teréga: listening to and serving regions and communities
We are involved in the development of the energy sector in the regions, but we are also involved directly and indirectly in their economic development. Looking beyond the benefits of the proximity of a natural gas facility available to regional businesses in terms of security of supply, the communities through which our grid passes also benefit in other ways:
from the flat-rate tax on network operating companies (IFER);
from the Territorial Economic Contribution (CET) comprising the corporate property tax (CFE) and the corporate value-added contribution (CVAE);
and from income transferred by the State.
Located where Europe’s major gas transport grids interconnect, and committed to innovation, we are also involved in developing a local entrepreneurial network capable of branching out across France and Europe, working to bring about new energy and environmental solutions.
So, in addition to the direct benefits (technical research, engineering, pipework, metal casting, civil engineering, information systems etc.) and indirect benefits from our activities (catering, accommodation etc.), we are also invested in the development of new local industries to meet the challenges of energy transition, such as:
development of the local production and use of gases from renewable sources (such as biomethane or hydrogen), while guaranteeing injection at the best technical-economic ratio for communities.
creation of interconnections between the production and use of renewable gases;
promotion of new uses, such as NGV (Natural Gas for Vehicles) and hydrogen-powered mobility.
Teréga: helping the regions to flourish
Introduced by the government in 2019, environmental transition contracts are a new partnership approach between the State, local authorities and socioeconomic actors in the region, to structure local industries around energy transition and to support the realisation of projects. Their approach enables a network of “in transition” communities to be established, acting as demonstrators. We feature in the action sheets for the Pau-Béarn-Pyrénées environmental transition contract, based on practical projects aimed at rolling out BioNGV mobility, developing methanation, or optimising the operation of energy systems.
We are also involved in the work to prepare master plans and road maps for the Occitanie and Nouvelle Aquitaine regions, territorial climate-air-energy plans (PCAETs), ecological transition contracts and all territorial arrangements to encourage energy and environmental transition.

This joint endeavour and the public-private relationship we have reinvented in Nouvelle-Aquitaine are part of how we shall face the climate challenge.

The Teréga Open Pau-Pyrénées
This high-level tennis tournament is providing a boost to the South-West region and is a favoured setting for meetings between business partners and all economic actors in the region, from start-ups to intermediate sized businesses. The event is also an annual opportunity to strengthen the links between local authorities, businesses and the general public, under the banner of sporting values.
The French Fab Tour
This initiative from the Banque Public d’Investissement (Bpifrance) is aimed at promoting industry, its sectors of excellence and its new faces through a tour of the regions. Similarly, the summer tour, or Big Tour, is an opportunity for the general public to discover transformations in the sector and the disruptive technologies opening up new avenues, particularly in respect of environmental challenges. By linking ourselves with this project, we are promoting the role we play in transforming the way energy is produced and consumed, underlining the positive impact for the company of tomorrow.
The Territoires d’Industrie Lacq-Pau-Tarbes scheme
As part of a wide-reaching national industrial recovery strategy, initiated by the French government and national industry council, we are helping increase the attractiveness of the French regions, encouraging innovation, attracting more projects and encouraging regional recruitment.
Elan Béarnais and the Section Paloise
As an official partner of Élan Béarnais in the Basketball Champions League since 2010, a member sharing the same values based on historical attachment to its area, we have never stopped supporting their development.
As a partner of the Section Paloise rugby club since 2016, our commitment reached a new milestone in the 2019-2020 season with the naming of the East stand at the 6,800-seater Hameau stadium, now known as the Est-Teréga stand. Much more than a simple change of name, this event shows our rootedness in the region, our commitment to the club and to sharing its values.
